Fall Meeting
At the annual fall meeting, the UTCR Committee reviews all SLR, as well as proposed changes to them, and addresses other issues before it. The Committee then recommends to the Chief Justice whether to disapprove any existing or proposed SLR. Grounds for recommending disapproval include redundancy or conflict with the Oregon Revised Statutes (ORS), UTCR, and other rules. The Committee sends notice of these recommendations to the affected courts. Unless disapproved, SLR becomes effective on February 1.
The Committee also considers proposals to change the UTCR. This is the only time the Committee accepts proposals for changes. The Committee publishes its preliminary recommendations on the Current UTCR Rules webpage and solicits public comment.
Spring Meeting
The Committee reviews public comment received on proposals to change the UTCR and makes its final recommendations to the Chief Justice, and addresses other issues before it.
