OJIN Commands

OJIN OnLineThere are six OJIN commands useful for public access to court records:

  • Display Name Index (DNAMIDX): Displays a list of names, providing subsequent quick access to the Case Register.
  • Display Case (DCAS): Displays a specific Case Register if the case number is known. This command is also convenient to use to switch county locations.
  • Display Case Financial (DCASFIN): Displays the financial information about a case, if the case number is known.
  • Display Judgment Index (DJGMIDX): Displays a list of names for cases with judgments, providing quick access to the Judgment details screen.
  • Display Judgment (DJGM): Displays the Judgment details screen, if the case number is known.
  • Display Statewide Index (DSTWIDX): Displays name matches throughout the entire state.

To enter a command, press [Tab] until the cursor is positioned at the top left corner of the screen. Type the command including any command parameters needed (e.g., the case number) then press [Enter]. If the parameters needed are unknown, precede the command name with a question mark (?) and do not include any parameters. The system presents a parameter entry screen, where the information can be entered for the desired case.

Menu options can also be used as an alternative to commands. The Index Menu leads to a submenu with two Index options that can be used: the Name Index and the Judgment Index.

The two most commonly used commands, DNAMIDX and DSTWIDX, are further explained below.

DNAMIDX

Use the DNAMIDX command to display the index of names in a particular court.

Example:

Type the command ?DNAMIDX then press [Enter]. The system displays a parameter screen. On the parameter screen, enter the last name of the person followed by one or two characters of the first name. All parameter screens have similar entry fields – name, case class, case type, and court location.

It is not needed to enter data for each parameter. In the case class and case type fields, enter *ALL (the field might already have *ALL in it) to select all classes and types.

Another generic parameter is *CUR for current. This is most often used in the court location field if you want to look for cases in the same court.

DSTWIDX

Use the DSTWIDX command to display the statewide index of names.

Example:

Type the command DSTWIDX SMITH to find a statewide index of names for 'Smith'. Locate the searched name, type 1 next to the name to display the second level index–specific cases throughout the state for the selected name. To display the Case Register screen type 1 next to the case and press [Enter].

If more than one case is marked for display, press [F2] to display the next case or [F12] to quit.
